We, KOIZUMI AND CO., LTD have been in business for 70 years, as a leading specialist wholesaler of Tokoname tea pot and tea ware. Through collaboration with local Kyusu craftsmen and tea producers around the world, we have contributed to the tea culture by confidently delivering Kyusu to the world.

Historically, tea was originally cultivated in Eurasia, but in Japan has evolved into a unique culture. The tea ceremony culture spread widely after the 16th century. The concept of the tea ceremony represents the time and space where people could have time to reflect while taking tea, separate from the outside world. The tea ceremony is deeply connected with the Zen philosophy, so that the theory of being “here and now” greatly influenced Japanese mentality in later years. However, these days limited numbers of people are given such opportunities.

The unique tea culture in Japan is based on the concept of the tea ceremony “wabi-sabi” which is closely connected to Zen philosophy. The tea culture and the habit of drinking tea became more familiar with the people after the Edo period to Showa period with the spread of green tea (sencha) and kyusu.

Now, from Tokoname, the production center of Kyusu, we propose a new tea possibility of “Chanoma”, which creates “Tea moments for you.”
“Chanoma” originally just means a living room where you can enjoy tea with family, friends, and guests. However, interestingly, this Japanese word also means “every tea moment here and now”. This may be the wisdom of Japan that has nurtured the tea culture for a thousand years.

Nowadays, our daily tea time has inherited the history of Japanese tea culture. Even though there is no time and specific space for tea, we can embody the essence of the Japanese tea culture of being “here and now” and having time to reflect through making tea by yourself with Kyusu.

Although you are busy in your daily life, you can feel relaxed and get a moment of peace by making tea by yourself. If you concentrate on the “here and now” when drinking tea, you may feel the taste elements of the tea like umami, bitterness, astringency, and sweetness. Also, you may notice the variety of the colors of the tea, refreshing forest-like aroma, or any other characteristics of tea that you are drinking now.  The tea moment gives you an opportunity to look at yourself, and at the same time, it brings a new awareness and meditation experience in your daily life.
“Chanoma” is beside you in your everyday life.
A new tea possibility of “Chanoma” will invite you to enjoy “Tea moments for yourself”.
